ENCUENTRO FILIPINO
The 2008 USA Concert-Conference Tour of the Loboc Children's Choir

PROJECT BENEFITS

Direct Beneficiaries

a. The USA Loboc Children's Choir and staff contingent of 21 children and 9 adults will enjoy the direct benefits of the immediate experience of performing for both the international and Filipino communities in the USA. Like all of their touring experiences, this new inroad in the USA will be a source of new knowledge of a different culture. This will complement what the children would usually gain from the conventional mode of formal education. The experience will hone their artistic and musical skills as well as inculcate in them an appreciation of other communities, cultures, and countries. The adult staff will acquire new knowledge and skills in cultural management as they get to know the mechanics of tour organizing in the USA.

b. The LCC and the LCC as a whole, coupled with the members of the LSCMPC and their families, together with the alumni of the LCC and their families, numbering about 500 individuals and about 50 households, will gain directly from the revenues of the concerts since they will have gathered a substantial amount to start the College Scholarship Fund for deserving scholars.

c. Audiences in the conferences and in the concerts, numbering minimum 5000 people to a maximum of 10,000 people will directly benefit from actually witnessing the performances of this prestigious musical ensemble. They are expected to be aesthetically, emotionally, and intellectually stimulated to appreciate Filipino talent and culture and to be spiritually motivated to help in the programs of the LCC.

d. The Loboc Church and Complex as a cultural institution will be directly benefited with the revenues being an important beneficiary of the concerts. Part of the concert income will be contributed to the Church and Convent restoration fund.

Indirect Beneficiaries

e. Families of identified scholars for a college music education will be a major indirect beneficiary. The scholarship fund will complement funds for the financial requirements of schooling these students.

f. The entire Loboc community in Bohol (population of about 30,000 people) will be an indirect beneficiary of this project since the concert tour will focus the town as a primary example of a heritage community engaged in eco-cultural tourism as well as in laudable projects in culture aimed at sustainable development.

g. The entire Bohol province (population 1.2 million people) and the Philippines will stand to gain in terms of positive international mileage emanating from this concert tour.

h. The national and international academic and cultural community will acquire new knowledge, concepts, and insights in the evolving discipline and scholarship of heritage musicology in general, and new understanding of Filipino arts and culture in the Spanish colonial period in the specific.
